Elder Britten Schenk

Our family received the heartbreaking news that my brother Steven's son, Britten, who is serving a church mission in Sao Paulo, Brazil, was hit by a bus Friday night causing a severe brain injury.  Surgery was performed Friday night lasting into Saturday morning.  The doctor's initially gave him a 40% chance of survival.  Please join our family as we pray for him, his doctors, and a quick Visa so that Steven and Karla can be with him in Brazil.  We believe in miracles.  We have faith.

Britten's brother and sister-in-law, Logan and Lora, have started a blog to keep up updated on Elder Schenk's status - www.elderbrittenschenk.blogspot.com
Thank you, Logan and Lora!  It is a nice way to receive news.  We pray for continued improvement and blessings.

Since I wrote this on Sunday, March 18, we have received news that Britten's condition is better than expected.  He has had an additional surgery.  He responded well to both surgeries and is in stable condition.  The doctor's are encouraged by his improvement - although he is still in a medically induced coma and in serious condition.  We know that we will continue to witness miracles on his behalf.  Steven and Karla are hopefully sitting in the airport in L.A. right now waiting for their flight to Sao Paulo.  It is no small miracle that they are able to secure an emergency visa in such a short amount of time!  God is in charge.  We will continue to pray.

Steven and Karla boarded their plane in L.A. at 12:40 pm today. They fly to Atlanta, to Rio, and then to Sao Paulo. It is a 24 hour flight. So glad that they are on their way. Grateful to the Brazilian government for issuing speedy emergency visas.
